| The Carpe Diem Foundation, created in honor of Mabel E. Greenspan, has scholarship grants available to students. The Foundation awards 12 to 24 merit based scholarship grants in the amounts of $2,500 to 5,000 per year to qualified candidates. The grants are awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievements, exceptional leadership ability, and a serious commitment to community service. The grants can be used for tuition, books, room and board at an accredited educational institution. This includes colleges and universities, conservatories of music, schools of design and academies of the arts.
While grants will be awarded based upon merit, priority among equally qualified candidates will be given to students whose parents are employed in education, government, social services, public health, the administration of justice, and the fine arts.
Greenspan, who died March 21, 2001, was a master teacher who believed that her students could make the world a better place to live.
Scholarship applications must either be downloaded from the Web site at Carpe Diem Foundation.
The application packet includes the application form, essay questions, teacher recommendation form, and community service recommendation form.
