Nillah Cody

Nillah Cody was elected to the position of Secretary in March 2005. She was first elected to the GSCCVA Board of Directors in 1979. She has held various positions in Girl Scouting including Troop Leader and Service Unit Director. Previously, she served on the Board as Member-at-Large, Vice President and President.

A lifetime Girl Scout, Nillah began her work with Girl Scouting as volunteer in 1963. “I believe we have a wonderful program for girls that affects their life and their family life for years to come. I like to be part of a group that reaches all girls; that teaches them life skills for a better tomorrow.”

Attributed to her commitment to Girl Scouting, Nillah is a recipient of the Thanks Badge. Awarded to an adult member, the Thanks Badge is given for service that is so significantly beyond expectations that no other award is appropriate. Nillah’s service has contributed to the achievement of the council’s goals and objectives and exemplifies the Girl Scout mission.

Nillah attended UNC-Greensboro. She is an active member of First United Methodist Church, and serves as Chairperson of Trustees and President of the United Methodist Women. She has also volunteered for the Adult Life Programs, Boy Scouts, Red Cross, Salvation Army and United Way.
