Mary Green
Member-At-Large

Mary Green was elected to the position of Member-at-Large in March 2005. She was first elected to the GSCCVA Board of Directors in 1992. She has held various positions in Girl Scouting including Troop Leader, Service Team Member and Council Trainer. Previously, she served on the Board as Member-at-Large and Vice Chair of Associations, as well as a member of the Nominating Committee. She also served as Secretary for six years.

A lifetime Girl Scouting, Mary says, “Girl Scouting is great for girls because it allows them to develop their strengths and abilities in a supportive and non-competitive way. They don't have to win swim meets or make a perfect gymnastic dismount to be winners! The many program possibilities offer opportunities for girls to learn and grow in wholesome and fulfilling ways, under the leadership of well-trained and dedicated adults.”

Mary is a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. She retired in 1999 after 15 years as a church business administrator. Active in her community, she is president of the Broad Street United Methodist Women. In addition, she sings in the choir, plays hand bells and leads a group that makes gifts for the congregation’s shut-in members. A school volunteer, she was Volunteer of the Year for Northview Elementary School in 2004. She is the education chair for the Statesville Branch of the American Association of University Women and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem.
